Our very own teachers were spreading the spirit of St Julie recently when they took part in charity events raising almost £2000.
Mrs Pasco admits to never having been a fan of fitness but thought taking part in a Strictly Come Dancing style event would be fun. She and her sister danced a jive to the classic Beatles track ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ in aid of Cancer Research UK, a charity close to their hearts as mum was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer. A happy ending to both events – mum is recovering well and the dancers didn’t fall over!
The following week, fitness fanatic Mrs Ronan took to the streets of Liverpool with her sister to run the Rock and Roll Marathon – her first marathon ever. Running 26.2 miles is a fantastic achievement, all in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer Care. A colleague in Notre Dame had sadly lost his niece to cancer and Mrs Ronan felt that every mile ran would hopefully contribute in some way to the grief felt by the bereaved family.
Let’s hope the students can match their teachers’ commitment to fundraising in future events – the challenge is on!
