On Monday 23rd April, the English and drama departments celebrated William Shakespeare’s 454th birthday.
As part of the festivities, students were encouraged to find and memorise facts about the famous playwright which were dotted in secret locations around the college. At break on Monday, students were then able to recite their findings to a member of staff from the English department in exchange for a slice of birthday cake.
The day was rounded off with an exciting recital by the drama club, who performed for a selection of Year 7 students. The showcase featured elaborate costumes and was made up of snippets from some of Shakespeare’s most famous works, including ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Macbeth’, ‘As You Like It’ and ‘Hamlet’.
