Prudence Beaumont barrister visit from Dean's Court Chambers
On Monday the 16th of April we were lucky enough to receive a visit from a barrister called Prudence Beaumont, who is a member of the Dean’s Court Chambers. She informed us about a number of issues associated with the law and gave us a sense what a real courtroom is like and how a trial is run.
We also discussed different routes into law, the subjects that would assist in sustaining a career in law as well as the benefits of either being a solicitor or a barrister. Prudence focusses mainly on family law in her chambers and she talked us through a typical case and what she does on a day to day basis. She also brought in her cap and gown and it was great to be able to try it on.
On behalf of all the students who attended I want to thank Prudence for coming to speak to us. The visit benefited all the pupils who attended as now have a deeper understanding of the life as a barrister and how trials work. Any individuals who wish to pursue a career in law now have observed the life of a barrister and discussed in detail how everything works.
