Year 7 Merseytravel Field Trip

October 4, 2017

On the 4th October 2017; Miss Wishart, Mr Bond and a group of year 7 students went on a Merseytavel trip. The students had a variety of activities throughout the day and used various types of transport.

In the morning the students walked to town to the main security centre in Queen’s Square. The students were met by Bill who took them to the train station were they learned about keeping safe by the tracks and then the students took a trip on the train from Liverpool to Birkenhead.

At Birkenhead the students learned about the Three Graces and Liverpool’s historical and distinctive waterfront. The students then took the ferry back to Liverpool on the top deck, which the students thoroughly enjoyed.

The final stop was the tunnel tour. Here students learned the vast history linked to the tunnels and they all went underground to investigate the different parts of the tunnels. They saw the control room in operation. After this, the students went beneath the city and walked under the tunnel road surface, visited a new Emergency Escape Refuge and they saw the giant ventilation fans working.

Overall, the trip provided the students with the chance to practice being safe on public transport and it also enabled them to practice independent travel on different types of transport.
