Sociology & Criminology

'We are what we want to be by the efforts we are willing to make.'

Mrs V Pasco (Head of Department and Teacher of Sociology & Criminology)

Mrs P Ronan (Teacher of RE & Sociology)

Both Sociology and Criminology are popular choices at A-level and many students go onto pursue their interest at degree level.

Sociology is taught using the AQA exam board and is examined at the end of two years through three examinations in May and June.

Criminology is a Level 3 qualification and has been launched in September 2019 in response to interest of the students. This syllabus follows WJEC and is examined via a Controlled Assessment and examination in Year 1 to lead to a Certificate and in Year 2 to lead to a Diploma.

There is currently one year 12 and one year 13 mixed ability class in Sociology and two year 12 mixed ability classes in Criminology.
