PSHCE - Year 7 Merseytravel Hub Visit 2018

Last month, Mr Brennan, Mrs Doran, Sister Margaret and a group of year 7 students went on a trip to the city centre to visit the Merseytavel Educational Hub. The students had a variety of activities throughout the day and learnt about how to independently use various types of transport. It can be a very nervy time for students, transiting from primary to secondary, and so much more is expected from students. That is why Notre Dame is proud to work in partnership with Merseytravel, in the education of our young students to safely and independently use public transport and understand the level of behaviour that is expected from them while mixing with the general public. Why not come along?

Year 8 '7-a-side' Champions

Liverpool School Sports Partnership held a Futsal tournament at Toxteth FireFit Hub on Tuesday 16th October. Once again, it was a fantastic opportunity put for our pupils to compete against other schools in the city. The boys were split into separate teams and competed against some of the top schools from around the city. They came through the group stage on top, after securing 4 wins and a draw. Year 8 LSSP Futsal Champions

On Thursday 4th October, our year 8 football team competed in the Liverpool School Sports Partnership 7-a-side tournament held at Archbishop Beck. It was a fantastic competition to participate in and the students really enjoyed it, demonstrating the fantastic behaviours that we expect of our pupils at Notre Dame. The boys showed courage, resilience and determination and did not concede any goals, which is a fantastic achievement. The boys played St Hilda’s and Archbishop Beck in the final play off matches and finished top of the group with one win (2-0 vs Archbishop Beck) and one draw (0-0 vs St Hilda’s) to secure the LSSP 7-a-side trophy. A huge congratulations to those involved.

The play took place in the Dorothy Stang on Friday 19th October 2018. Road safety chiefs on Merseyside have vowed to try and cut the number of deaths and serious injuries in the area’s roads by a third by 2020. In a new strategy unveiled in October. Merseyside Road Safety Partnership says it wants to see the number of deaths and injuries slashed to an all time low of 400 within the next three years. Our students said they found the performance to be ‘very powerful’ and ‘eye opening’. Some stated they are encouraged more than ever to use pedestrian crossings and
