Religious Education Introduction

Religious Education is at the heart of all we do in Notre Dame Catholic College.  The Religious Education Department plays a full part in the academic, social and spiritual education of our students.  All students are encouraged to reflect on their religious beliefs and the beliefs of others.  A recent Ofsted Report described the department as:

“very successful with a commitment to high standard of teaching and learning.”

We learn through discussion and debate, spiritual reflection, critical analysis and spiritual reflection.

The work of the Department includes extra-curricular activities particularly in support of students’ spiritual development. All students in Years 7 and 10 have the opportunity to take part in a day retreat to Sandymount House in Blundellsands. These days are hugely enjoyable and rewarding and remain in students’ memories for a very long time. Students in Year 12 also have the opportunity to take part in a residential retreat. For some years this has been held in Savio House near Macclesfield in Cheshire. Sixth Form students who have been on the retreat speak of it with fond memories.
