NOTRE DAME – EVERTON VALLEY
SOME
IMPORTANT DATES IN OUR COLLEGE STORY
FOUNDED IN FEBRUARY 1869
1869 – 1902
Notre Dame, Everton
Valley began as a student-Teacher Centre and it
had links with many of the local Primary
Schools:
St Augustine’s School from 1871
St Alexander’s School from 1872
St Sylvester’s School from 1873
St Michael’s School from 1875
All Souls School from 1876
St John’s School from 1878
St Alphonsus’ School from 1888
1902 – 1908
The Collegiate School came into existence and
in 1908 the student-Teacher Centre and the
Collegiate School formed one establishment.
1908 – 1983
Notre Dame Collegiate School developed in size
and in stature. In 1978 the Sisters finally
moved from Everton Valley to make way for the
extended building needed when the school became
an all-girls Comprehensive School in September
1983.
1983 – 2002
1983 brought the
re-organisation of Catholic Secondary Education
in the Archdiocese of Liverpool. Three schools,
Notre Dame Collegiate School, St John’s
Secondary Modern School and St Catherine’s
Secondary Modern School amalgamated and became
known as Notre Dame High School. In 2001 all the
Catholic High Schools in Liverpool inserted the
title `Catholic’ into their name.
2002 –
During the academic year 2002 Notre Dame
Catholic High School was awarded the status of a
Performing Arts College. Along with the status
came the opportunity for the Governing Body to
change the school’s name. Fittingly the school
returns to its original title of College.
